Creating rare artworks with a difference for more than a decade, I am Denis L. Mutabazi and this is my story.
Being the second of five children born to Claudian B. Mutabazi and Lucy K. Mutabazi, we had a strong family bond with love and care. We all grew up under the same roof; sharing, playing and praying together although I most offten seemed not to fully fit in which attracted my parents’ attention at quite a tender age.
Statements like, “Mbona Denis hafanani na wenzake! or Huyu huwa anafanya mambo yake kwa utofauti or even Tumuulize Denis tuone yeye anawazo gani.” were common to hear for as long as I can’t remember because right from childhood I was never afraid to take on a different path, choose working in silence over complaining or think deeper before giving any replies.
Moving off to school in another country was a whole new experience for me. Language barrier and sometimes my silence being mistaken for stubbornness were some of the many challenges I faced in my early years but while in this place, I realized something new, different and so exciting for me. Painting on the ground using pounded burnt bricks, small stones, chalk, leaves, dried grass and even broken sticks. This material was all free and readily available. For the first time, I expressed myself without words but in a way that was both beautiful and intimidating to my seniors. It was so exciting to create greatness from almost anything.
As the years went by, I lost track of this magical gift of using anything to create art which was eventually replaced by more conventional styles of like the use of paint or graphite and through music which became my new form of expression in my secondary and high school times. It is actually here that I started creating a world of my own. From creating my personal combination of subjects that combined pure two sciences of Biology and Chemistry with two pure arts of Fine Art and Music, my journey into the unknown began until that moment when I met Monicah, my fellow student whom I loved dearly to the extent of making teachers jealous and ending up expelled from school for coupling; a crime that was characterized by a male being known for deeply loving only one female friend.
This is not just art but rather a visual representation of legacy shaping new unlimited possibilities of powerful invisible connection within the cosmos.
Legacy
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Done Commissions
For more than a decade, I have used bonded beads to represent ‘connected dots of life’ thus creating artworks that have been cherished and highly valued as rare and authentic works of art.
From portraits to African pieces and abstracts, there are no boundaries to the possibilities of creation in my ‘One Million Bead Art Process.’
“From start to finish, working with Zulima was pleasant and stress free. The florals for the wedding were perfect and beyond what we could have imagined.”
